A BILL to amend article six, chapter seven of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section eight-a, relating to requiring all county officials who collect or otherwise handle public moneys to make daily deposits of such moneys.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article six, chapter seven of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section eight-a, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 6. COUNTY DEPOSITORIES.
§7-6-8a. Duty of county officials or employees to make daily
deposits.

Not withstanding any provision to the contrary, any county official or employee who routinely collects or otherwise handles public moneys as the result of their duties for such county shall make daily deposits in the public depositories of all public money received by him or her, except as such is necessary to meet current demands.





NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require county officials and employees who collect or otherwise handle public moneys to deposit same on a daily basis.
